When we think about weddings, we tend to think about quaint little village churches and formal receptions venues. Venues which are great for capturing the classic wedding photographs and whilst I love photographing weddings in these environments, as a photographer, I am also interested in the challenge of that comes with unusual venues. Living on the Sussex coast piers are common place but certainly a little different in terms of wedding venues, as well as beaches and bandstands etc.
Jodie and Charlie got married at Heaven Farm in West Sussex and this was definitely an unusual wedding venue. With its lakeside setting, ancient bluebell woods and gorgeous views across the Sussex countryside, it provides the perfect blank canvas for the bride and groom to create their dream day whilst offering the photographer a delightful environment in which to capture lots of delightful images.
Jodie and Charlie opted to use the marriage pergola which is located on the edge of the lily filled pond, surrounded by cascading willow branches and rolling hills of the Sussex countryside. They were delighted with their wedding photographs, beautiful images that captured all the emotions and special moments of their very special day along with the beauty of this lovely and unusual wedding day setting.
Unusual venues don't make the job harder, in fact quite the opposite. It's easier because more it can generate new ideas and motivation in terms of photography. Whatever venue you choose it's always incredibly special to you, ultimately is all that matters, our job as photographer is to capture what will be your forever memories.
